Students are working on a plant unit. We’ve been studying the parts and functions of flowering plants. So far, we’ve covered roots, stems, and leaves and their role in the life processes of plants. We are now studying flowers, their classification, and how they function as seed producers. Several students have asked about tests. I have assured them, and want to reassure parents that I always give a 4-5 day notice prior to a science unit test. Students will bring home a study guide and a test note for parents to sign. Getting the note signed will add points to a student’s test grade.
*Remember that this Thursday (11th) is our flower dissection lab. Students may begin bringing in cut flowers on Wednesday and Thursday morning. We will need a large number and variety of cut flowers for this lab to be a valuable experience for students.
Please be watching for further notes about upcoming labs and checking your students agenda each evening for assignments.
Social Studies
We are currently studying Economic concepts as well as map skills. We have been looking at the different types of resources and the choices that consumers must make in order to use them wisely. Again, I will give you several days notice prior to a test, and will send home a study guide with a test note to be signed.
Dates to Remember:
Sept. 9 Students will be bringing home fund raiser information.
Sept. 10-11 Please bring in cut flowers for dissection lab on Thursday.
Sept. 12 Student Council election for class representative. Students who have a signed permission slip (these were due last week) will be expected to give a brief talk to classmates about their qualifications and ideas for the position.
Sept. 26 No School (Staff Workshop Day)
